The Zephyr Notification Service
نویسندگان
چکیده
Zephyr is a notice transport and delivery system under development at Project Athena.1 Zephyr is for use by network-based services and applications with a need for immediate, reliable and rapid communication with their clients. Zephyr meets the highthroughput, high fan-out communications requirements of large-scale workstation environments. It is designed as a suite of ‘‘layered services’’ based on a reliable, authenticated notice protocol. Multiple, redundant Zephyr servers provide basic routing, queueing, and dispatching services to clients that communicate via the Zephyr Client Library. More advanced communication services are built upon this base.

Design and Implementation of a Failsafe Print System
This paper describes a printing system designed for an environment with several hundred printers, such that there is no single point of failure, and the print service continues to be available to new print jobs, even if any part of the print system fails. The paper also describes the following ideas implemented in this system: • use of a single queue name (myprinter) for almost all print jobs f...

متن کاملEfficient Incremental Reprogramming of Sensor Nodes using Function Call Indirections and Difference Computation
Wireless reprogramming of sensor nodes is an essential requirement for long-lived networks due to changes in the functionality of the software running on the nodes. The amount of information that needs to be wirelessly transmitted during reprogramming should be minimized to reduce reprogramming time and energy. In this paper, we present a multi-hop incremental reprogramming protocol called Zeph...
